Charis & Jeff - An Engagement in Paris
There is something about Paris that makes you want to slow down.
For Charis and Jeff’s engagement session, we didn’t want the day to feel like a checklist of Paris landmarks. Instead, we wanted to photograph the city as something they could move through naturally — walking along the streets, stopping when the light felt right, and letting the little moments in between become part of the story.
Paris gave us plenty to work with. The soft architecture, quiet corners, passing streets and that unmistakable Parisian light all became part of the photographs without ever needing to overpower them.
What I loved most about photographing Charis and Jeff was how effortless they were together. There was no need to make every moment feel grand. A glance, a hand held while walking, or a laugh between photographs was often enough.
That is always what I look for in an engagement session.
Of course, Paris is beautiful. But a beautiful location alone doesn’t make a photograph meaningful. I would rather leave a little space for things to happen — for the couple to settle into the day, forget about the camera for a while, and simply enjoy being somewhere special together.
The result is a collection that feels romantic without trying too hard, elegant without becoming too polished, and most importantly, personal to Charis and Jeff.
Years from now, I hope these photographs remind them of more than how Paris looked.
I hope they remember how it felt to wander through the city together, during this small chapter before everything that comes next.
Charis & Jeff, Paris.
